SSU detains fan of ‘russian world’ who held leadership position during occupation of Kharkiv oblast

The SSU has exposed another enemy accomplice who voluntarily cooperated with russia during the occupation of part of Kharkiv region.

The suspect is a former engineer of Kupiansk gas pipeline department. During the temporary occupation, he supported the invaders and agreed to head a local ‘gas distribution company’ established by them.

In this ‘position’, the collaborator forced his subordinates to dig trenches and build fortifications for the occupiers.

He also suggested to the russian commanders the locations for hiding armoured vehicles and ammunition.

The enemy accomplice helped prepare facilities of the occupation authorities and russian troops for the last year’s heating season.

After Kupiansk’s liberation, the man tried to lay low and evade justice. However, the SSU found and apprehended him.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Article 111-2.1 of the CCU (aiding the aggressor state).

Court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing. The suspect is facing up to 12 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
