Bukovyna: SSU detains FSB agent and his accomplice who spied on trains with military equipment
In Chernivtsi region, the SSU detained two members of a regional branch of the “narodovladdia” (People’s power) movement who were spying on the Defense Forces and trying to prevent mobilization in the west of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the men reconnoitered the directions of movement of the AFU railway trains and publicly called on conscripts to evade the draft.
The SSU has established that a 41-year-old local resident, a former member of the banned Communist Party of Ukraine, came to the attention of the FSB in 2015. After russia’s full-scale invasion, he was recruited and instructed to form an agent network in Bukovyna.
The traitor spread kremlin narratives, denied the legitimacy of state power in Ukraine, and tried to create alternative “local governments”.
Moreover, on the instructions of the handlers, the suspect agitated local men of military age to hide from the Territorial Recruitment Center and spied on the routes of the AFU trains.
To carry out the enemy's assignment, the agent engaged a 35-year-old local unemployed man, whom he allegedly could protect from the draft.
The SSU documented the criminal actions of both offenders and detained them.
During the searches, the SSU seized mobile phones with evidence of subversive activities.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators served the FSB agent a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 (high treason committed under martial law) and his accomplice a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 (unauthorized dissemination of information on movement or location of the AFU or other lawful military formations, committed under martial law) of the CCU.
Both offenders are in custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Chernivtsi regions under the procedural supervision of regional Prosecutor’s Office.
