SSU detains traitor who worked for kremlin ‘military correspondent’ Tatarsky
In Dnipropetrovsk oblast, the SSU Counterintelligence conducted a multi-stage special operation and apprehended another agent of the GRU (the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces). He was collecting intelligence on movements of Ukraine’s Defence Forces towards the eastern and southern fronts.
From November 2022 to April 2023, the enemy informant sent all the data he gathered to his contact, the russian ‘military correspondent’ Vladlen Tatarsky.
The kremlin propagandist passed the data to russia’s military intelligence service.
After Tatarsky’s elimination, the agent tried to lie low and evade justice. However, the SSU found and detained him.
According to the investigation, the traitor is a resident of a town near Dnipro. The aggressor’s informant has two previous convictions and has served 8 years in prison for theft, illegal seizure of vehicles, hooliganism and infliction of grievous bodily harm.
According to the investigation, Tatarsky recruited him remotely in the autumn of 2022.
The traitor came to the blogger’s attention because of his anti-Ukrainian comments published on one of the pro-kremlin Telegram channels associated with the GRU.
To collect intelligence, the spy regularly drove in Dnipro and its suburbs and covertly tracked the routes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units.
After each communication session with his handler, he deleted all sent messages.
During the search at the suspect’s home, the SSU found computer equipment and mobile phones used in reconnaissance and sabotage activities against Ukraine.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served the individual a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody, facing life imprisonment.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the coordination of the SSU Counterintelligence Department and procedural supervision of Dnipropetrovsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
