SSU detains russian sleeper agents from Motorola’s group in Donetsk region

During stabilization measures in the front-line areas of the east of Ukraine, the SSU exposed two militants of the terrorist organization DNR.

The suspects were detained in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, where they covertly arrived to carry out reconnaissance and sabotage activities against the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

ID cards of members of illegal armed formations and an arsenal of automatic weapons and ammunition, disguised in specially equipped caches, were seized from them.

According to the investigation, the militants are two locals who in 2014 joined the ranks of the terrorist groups Vostok and Slavyansk brigade. Under the leadership of the militant with the nom de guerre Motorola, they actively participated in military actions against Ukrainian troops near Kramatorsk.

Being part of the enemy’s mortar squads, the fighters covered the retreat of the terrorist Strelkov’s units from Slovyansk.

Before the start of the full-scale invasion, the aggressor state ‘transferred’ these two militants to the Ukrainian-controlled territory of the region. There they were put on standby, waited for further assignments from their russian supervisors, trying to hide among locals.

However, the SSU was ahead of the curve: the enemy agents were located and detained.

Among other things, communication devices they used to contact occupying forces were seized from them.

The detainees have been notified of suspicion under Article 258-3.1 of the CCU (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization). Court ruled to hold the suspects in custody.

The SSU Offices in Donetsk and Luhansk regions exposed the agents under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
