Ivano-Frankivsk region: SBU detains corrupt head of forensic medical examination bureau
SBU detained the head of the forensic medical examination bureau in Ivano-Frankivsk region on bribery.
SBU operatives established that the official demanded USD 4,000 from the subordinate for promotion. Additionally, the head involved another employee of the institution as an mediator in order to obtain money.
The SBU officers detained offenders in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on receiving a part of the bribe. During searches at the suspects’ residences, law enforcement officers seized the whole amount of the illegal gain.
The detainees received suspicion notices of accepting an offer, promise or receving improper benefit by an official.
Reportedly, the court is already considering a case initiated by the SBU in 2018 on the basis for similar crimes commited by the head of the regional bureau of forensic medical examination.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the National Police Department in Ivano-Frankivsk region under the procedural supervision of the Ivano-Frankivsk Region Prosecutor's Office.
