SSU detains collaborators in Kherson region who threatened to shoot for refusal to ‘vote’ at sham referendum
In the course of stabilization measures in the liberated districts of Kherson region, the SSU exposed another three enemy accomplices.
The detained offenders are former representatives of ‘voting commissions’ set up by invaders during the temporary occupation of the region.
While in their ‘positions’, they carried out moscow’s instructions to prepare and hold the sham referendum on the ‘accession’ of the captured areas of southern Ukraine to russia.
For this purpose, they launched a broad campaign in support of the fake plebiscite in Beryslav district, Kherson oblast.
The criminals personally urged people to come to the ‘polling stations’ and ‘vote’ in favour of the aggressor state.
For ensuring the right ‘turnout’, the enemy promised them a ‘reward’ of RUB 50,000 each.
These individuals also carried out door-to-door visits to private households, during which they forced people to put the necessary ‘mark in the ballot’.
In case of refusal, they summoned armed ruscists, who broke into locals’ homes and threatened to shoot them.
In this way, invaders tried to intimidate people and suppress the resistance movement in the region.
According to the investigation, the collaborators are three local residents, one of whom recently arrived from the temporarily occupied Luhansk.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, they supported the invaders and offered their assistance in the war against Ukraine.
After the liberation of the area, the criminals tried to ‘get lost’ in different settlements. However, the SSU located and detained them.
SSU investigators served the detainees notices of suspicion under Articles 28.5 and 111-1.5 of the CCU (collaboration, participation in organizing and conducting illegal elections and/or referenda in the temporarily occupied territory, committed in conspiracy by a group of persons).
Court chose custody as a measure of restraint.
The crime is punishable by up to 10 years of imprisonment.
The SSU Office in Kherson region exposed the offenders with the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
