SSU detains another two collaborators who forced villagers to ‘vote’ in russia’s sham referendum in Kherson region
In Kherson region, the SSU has uncovered another two collaborators who organized russia’s illegal referendum during the occupation of the right bank of this oblast.
As ‘officials’ of the occupation ‘election commissions’, they came to local homes and demanded that people ‘vote for the region’s accession to russia’.
The collaborators forced people to put the ‘necessary’ marks in the fake ballots and controlled how they did that.
If the villagers refused to support the aggressor, the perpetrators threatened to ‘hand them over’ the villagers to the armed ruscists accompanying them during their door-to-door visits.
The SSU apprehended both suspects as a result of stabilization measures in the liberated part of the region. One of them, a woman, tried to hide from justice in a home of her acquaintances, who assisted her unknowingly.
According to the investigation, the suspects are from Milove and Bilozerka community.
After the area was captured, they supported the invaders and voluntarily joined russia’s occupation administration.
There, the collaborators were given a task of organizing the sham referendum in the temporarily occupied settlements.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified the detainees of suspicion under Articles 28.2, 111-1.5 of the CCU (collaboration, committed by a group of persons upon prior conspiracy).
The suspects are in custody and face up to 10 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kherson region under the procedural supervision of Beryslav District and regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
