Kherson region: SSU detains traitor who gave up Ukrainian patriots to ruscists and kept arsenal of russian weapons

The SSU exposed another traitor in the liberated part of Kherson region.

The enemy accomplice is a local resident who, after the area was captured, collaborated with the russian occupiers.

In early March 2022, he provided the ruscists with personal data and addresses of resistance members in a village near Kherson.

The enemy was primarily interested in information on locals who opposed the invaders and had hunting weapons in their households.

Later, the traitor personally participated in the russians’ punitive raids and illegal detentions of Ukrainian citizens.

After Kherson’s liberation, the betrayer tried to ‘lay low’ and hoped to evade justice.

However, the SSU identified and detained him.

During the investigation, the law enforcement found an arsenal of hidden russian weapons, including:

  • a rocket-propelled anti-tank grenade,
  • anti-personnel and anti-tank mines,
  • combat hand grenades,
  • rounds of ammunition of assorted caliber.

The seized items have been sent for examination.

The detainee has been notified of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

The court chose custody as a measure of restraint.

Further, the suspect’s actions may be qualified additionally, under other articles of the CCU.

The SSU carried out the operation and investigation jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
