Kirovohrad oblast: SSU detains russian agent who reconnoitred Ukrainian defence industry enterprises

As a result of counter-sabotage efforts in Kirovohrad region, the SSU exposed another enemy accomplice.

The offender is a woman, resident of Oleksandriia district, whom russian intelligence remotely involved in cooperation against Ukraine.

On the aggressor’s instructions, she collected up-to-date information on location of military and critical infrastructure facilities in the region.

The enemy was primarily interested in enterprises that fulfil state defence orders for the needs of the AFU.

The data were to be transmitted via a messenger app to ‘liaisons’ in the occupation forces on the eastern front.

The occupiers needed the intelligence to prepare a series of missile strikes on Ukrainian targets.

However, the SSU timely identified and detained the traitor when she was taking photos of a local enterprise.

From the suspect, the SSU seized a mobile phone, which she used to take photos, georeference targets and communicate with the aggressor.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the detained woman a notice of suspicion under the Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).

Court is to decide on custody as a measure if restraint.

The investigation is ongoing. The russian agent is facing up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The SSU Office in Kirovohrad region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
