SSU detains traitor who collected information for russians on military airfield in Kirovohrad oblast

As a result of a special operation in Kirovohrad oblast, the SSU Counterintelligence exposed another FSB agent.

The offender is a local resident who came to the attention of the enemy special service during his trips to russia before the full-scale invasion.

After February 24, 2022, the aggressor remotely engaged the man in covert cooperation against Ukraine.

Following the FSB’s instructions, the agent collected intelligence on locations and movements of the Defence Forces in the region.

Primarily, the enemy informant tried to identify military airfields and railway routes for transporting weapons and ammunition to the frontline. Among other things, he was looking for an airfield where UAVs were being tested.

To do this, the traitor drove around the area and took photos and videos of facilities, paying special attention to the movement of railroad transport.

He tried to pass the collected intelligence to the FSB using the Telegram messenger.

Occupiers needed the data to prepare and launch targeted missile strikes in the area.

However, the SSU Counterintelligence timely exposed and detained the agent, when he was conducting reconnaissance.

The SSU seized the phone used for covert communication with the enemy from the suspect.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the apprehended individual a notice of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

Court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint. The investigation is ongoing.

The SSU Office in Kirovohrad region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
