In Donetsk region, the SSU Counterintelligence detained a member of an IAF of the temporarily occupied territories, who attempted to covertly cross the contact line.

It was established that the detainee is a native of Myrnohrad, Donetsk region, and was a member of the militant groups Oplot and Vostok. As a scout, he carried out reconnaissance and collected intelligence on positions and movements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the region.

Following a conflict with terrorist leaders and a death threat, the militant tried to cross to the government-controlled territory.

The SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion of crime under Article 258-3.1 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization) of the CCU. The SSU is verifying information on his involvement in activities of Russian special services.

The pre-trial investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances of unlawful activity and bring to justice all those involved in crimes against Ukraine’s state security.

The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation under the supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
