SSU detains russian agents who ‘hunted’ for HIMARS in eastern Ukraine

The SSU detained another two members of an extensive FSB agent network who conducted reconnaissance and sabotage in the frontline areas of Donetsk oblast.

Five of their accomplices were detained during the SSU’s counter-sabotage operations in December 2022 and early spring of 2023.

This time, the SSU detained agents who were collecting intelligence on locations and movements of the Defence Forces units in Kramatorsk district.

Primarily, they tried to identify combat positions of HIMARS systems and pass coordinates to russians.

The SSU timely exposed, documented and detained both enemy informants when they were carrying out the aggressor’s assignment.

According to the investigation, the offenders are two residents of Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, recruited remotely by russian intelligence services at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

They maintained communication with the occupiers through their relative, who lives in moscow and is ‘in touch’ with the FSB.

During the searches of the suspects’ homes, the SSU found mobile phones and other material evidence of the crime.

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators served both men notices of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).

The suspects are in custody. The investigation is underway.

The SSU Office in Vinnytsia region carried out the operational and investigative activities under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
