SSU detains FSB agent adjusting enemy attacks on Defence Forces on border with russia in Sumy region

In Sumy oblast, the SSU has apprehended another agent of russia’s federal security service. He tried to collect and pass to the enemy the locations of Ukrainian units defending our northern borders.

The perpetrator is a 50-year-old local resident. The FSB recruited him through an old acquaintance who is now fighting against Ukraine in the ranks of russian army.

The asset was supposed to identify and reconnoiter the coordinates of Ukrainian fortifications, artillery positions and anti-aircraft missile systems defending Ukraine’s border with the aggressor state.

In case of obtaining up-to-date geolocations of the Defence Forces, the occupiers planned to attack the targets with missiles and Shahed-type kamikaze drones.

However, the SSU Counterintelligence worked proactively and apprehended the traitor in Shostka district. A mobile phone was seized from the detainee; from it he was supposed to send voice messages to the FSB, passing the collected intelligence.

SSU investigators have now served the individual a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU – high treason, committed under martial law.

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Sumy Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
