SSU detains enemy agent in Vinnytsia region who ‘tailed’ AFU convoys to adjust strikes on them
The SSU Counterintelligence has apprehended an agent of russia’s federal security service who operated in central regions of Ukraine. The perpetrator was spying on the movement of Ukrainian military equipment towards the frontline.
The enemy was trying to track the Armed Forces units moving along the roads of Vinnytsia and Cherkasy regions.
According to the investigation, the FSB hoped to monitor the routes of Ukrainian military convoys in real time in order to adjust strikes on them.
To do this, the FSB remotely recruited a 51-year-old paramedic from a medical institution in Vinnytsia oblast. The man was ‘chosen’ because of his pro-kremlin activity on Telegram channels.
On the enemy orders, the agent drove his car to interregional highways and tracked the movements of the Defence Forces.
The Service documented an episode when, having spotted a military convoy, the suspect had ‘tailed’ it for almost 100 km. The spy tried to establish the route, number and types of equipment in the column.
The SSU Counterintelligence uncovered the traitor at an early stage and detained him near his home. Prior to that, action was taken to protect locations of Ukrainian troops.
During the search, the investigators seized a mobile phone used by the suspect to communicate with his FSB handler Serhiy Lebedev (aka the blogger ‘Lokhmatyi’) from Donetsk.
Based on the evidence, the SSU served the detained individual a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Vinnytsia Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
