The SSU is taking comprehensive measures to combat the transnational crime that threatens Ukrainian national security. In Cherkasy, the SSU detained a foreigner who had been on the international wanted list.

The detainee is a citizen of a Middle East country. According to the Interpol, he is involved in committing serious crimes in his home country.

The SSU received data that the perpetrator arrived to Ukraine using forged documents as a part of international humanitarian exchange. Constantly changing address of his temporary stay, he was trying to evade justice.

The court made a decision to keep the detainee in custody. The decision on his extradition is pending.

The operation was carried out by the relevant department at SSU HQ and SSU Office in Cherkasy region under the supervision of Cherkasy region Prosecutor's Office.
