SSU detains friend of ‘DNR people’s council’ head who planned to spy on Ukrainian servicemen from frontline shop (video)

In Donetsk region, the SSU has uncovered another informant of russian military intelligence. The perpetrator was in direct contact with the commander of a special purpose unit of the GRU (the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces) stationed near the frontline.

On the enemy instructions, the woman was gathering intelligence on location and movement of Ukrainian troops near Bakhmut.

The agent was to collect coordinates of key strongholds and firing positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the eastern front.

The GRU needed the information to prepare sabotage attacks and adjust missile strikes on Ukrainian combat positions.

The investigation also revealed that the woman was acquainted with the head of the so-called ‘DNR people’s council’ Artem Zhoga.

In telephone conversations with him, she boasted about her work for the russian military intelligence.

To gather more information, the enemy informant planned to get a job as a saleswoman in a local store near the Ukrainian defence unit.

The SSU uncovered the suspect’s intentions and apprehended her at her home.

The traitor is a resident of Kramatorsk, who had expressed her support for russia’s armed aggression on social media. This brought her to the attention of the commander of the GRU’s special force in June 2023.

The enemy agent sent the collected data in text files and screenshots of electronic maps with marked Ukrainian facilities.

During the searches, the SSU seized a mobile phone and a computer used for reconnaissance and sabotage.

SSU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (collaboration).

The suspect is in custody, facing up to 15 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
