SSU detains Shufrych’s assistant who financed russian guard in Crimea

The Security Service of Ukraine has collected evidence against another person involved in the case of the parliament member Nestor Shufrych, who is suspected of financing the russian guard in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

According to the investigation, the person in question is responsible for the legal aspects of the scheme and was involved in concluding a contract with the russian guard for the protection of elite real estate in Crimea controlled by Shufrych.

In just 3 months, more than half a million russian rubles were transferred to the occupiers’ accounts. The purpose of the payments was to provide ‘paramilitary security services’ for the MP’s properties in the Crimea.

The people’s deputy Shufrych was notified of suspicion in early February 2024.

Now, SSU investigators and operatives detained Shufrych’s business partner and served him a notice of suspicion under Article 110-2.3 of the CCU (financing actions committed with the purpose of forceful change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power, change of the boundaries of the territory or the state border of Ukraine).

The investigation is ongoing. The suspect faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
