SSU detains Shariy’s party follower who called for coup d'état in Ukraine

In Kyiv, the Security Service of Ukraine has detained a pro-russian agitator who called for a forceful seizure of power in Ukraine and the assassination of the state’s leaders.

According to the investigation, the suspect was a follower of the banned party of Shariy and coordinated his subversive activities with the top twenty representatives of this pro-kremlin party.

He used his Telegram and YouTube channels, Instagram page, as well as other social media with a total audience of almost 20,000 users to spread destructive content.

The investigation established that the ‘party member’ had received orders to spin certain topics from propagandists controlled by Shariy, who are hiding abroad and conducting information subversions on the orders of russian intelligence services.

Such instructions came in the form of ‘editorial tasks’ via anonymous chats in messenger apps.

During the searches of the suspect’s apartment, the SSU seized a laptop, mobile phone, party membership cards, pro-russian literature and drugs.

A forensic linguistic examination initiated by the SSU confirmed the facts of his information and subversive activities against Ukraine.

SSU investigators have now served him a notice of suspicion under Article 109.2 of the CCU (public calls for forceful change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power, as well as distribution of materials calling for such actions).

The suspect is in custody and faces imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
