SSU detains Medvedchuk’s propagandist who called to split Ukraine
In Khmelnytskyi, the SSU detained a pro-russian propagandist who assisted the aggressor in the war against Ukraine.
Even before the full-scale invasion, he was a member of a pool of political PR specialists working for Medvedchuk.
The suspect promoted the media image of the kremlin’s henchman Medvedchuk as a ‘peacemaker who is heard’ in moscow.
To do this, he regularly published his posts on propaganda Internet platforms.
In addition, in early 2020, he voluntarily began working for the russian news agency News-front, registered in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
When russia began its full-scale aggression, Medvedchuk’s promoter was in Khmelnytskyi and from there repeatedly disseminated publications questioning the existence of Ukrainian statehood within the internationally recognized borders.
He also discredited the Defence Forces and spread fakes about the internal political situation in Ukraine.
The SSU-initiated linguistic examinations confirmed the facts of the suspect’s subversive activity.
During the searches at the offender’s home in Khmelnytskyi, the SSU found computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of the unlawful actions.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the individual a notice of suspicion under Article 111.1 of the CCU (high treason).
The court chose custody without the right to bail as a measure of restraint.
The SSU Office in Khmelnytskyi region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
