SSU detains russian agent who helped enemy shell border areas in Sumy region (video)
The SSU Counterintelligence exposed an agent who carried out reconnaissance in Sumy region – he was collecting intelligence on deployment of Ukrainian Defence Forces near the state border.
His supervisors from russia were especially interested in information on the movement of Ukrainian units with military equipment.
While scouting Ukrainian positions, the spy took photos and videos with these locations and then sent them to an employee of the FSB as georeferenced electronic files. For transmission, he used secure communication channels.
The occupiers planned to use this data for massive artillery shelling of the region.
The investigation established that the traitor is a local recruited by russian special services after the start of the full-scale invasion. The SSU has identified the occupier with whom the agent cooperated.
During the search of the suspect’s home, the SSU found computer equipment and a mobile phone that he used to communicate with the enemy.
