SSU detains russian agent who helped enemy carry out missile strikes on schools in Mykolaiv
In the course of a counter-sabotage special operation in the front-line areas of Mykolaiv region, the SSU detained an agent of the russian military intelligence, who gave the invaders exact coordinates of the city’s educational institutions for the so-called ‘intimidating’ missile attacks.
The traitor also collected intelligence on deployment, movement and armament of Ukrainian Defence Forces in the south.
It was established that based on his ‘information’ on targets in Mykolaiv, several military infrastructure facilities were destroyed and damaged and two schools suffered devastating strikes.
Overall, since the start of the full-scale invasion, russian forces partially or completely destroyed 3 higher educational institutions, 2 technical colleges and over 10 schools in this city.
The SSU cyber specialists established that the agent was recruited by russian military intelligence after the start of the full-scale invasion.
The person detained actively participated in discussions in numerous anti-state Telegram channels, where he wasn’t hiding his anti-Ukrainian views and openly promoted russian narratives.
During the search, the SSU found the mobile phone that he used to communicate with his russian coordinator.
The agent has been notified of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information about movement of weapons and military supplies to Ukraine, movement, transfer or location the Armed Forces of Ukraine). The court has decided to keep him in custody.
The crime is punishable by up to 12 years in prison.
The investigation is underway.
The SSU Office in Mykolaiv region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Mykolaiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
