In the course of counter-sabotage efforts in Dnipropetrovsk region, the SSU Counterintelligence exposed another enemy accomplice.

The traitor is an agent of the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces (the GRU).

Employed by a local pharmaceutical company, the man was engaged in medicine supplies. While delivering medications, he was collecting intelligence on the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Primarily, the russian agent tried to identify combat positions of air defence forces and location of operational command staffs of Ukrainian troops.

The individual also passed data on location of heat and power generating facilities to the aggressor.

According to the investigation, the enemy agent ‘reported’ to the russian GRU on the consequences of air strikes on these targets, in particular on Prydniprovska Thermal Power Plant.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the traitor on his attempt to collect information on Ukrainian facilities.

The spy passed the obtained intelligence to occupiers through secure communication channels in the form of georeferenced photos with detailed descriptions.

During the searches at the suspect’s home, the SSU found mobile phones with evidence of communication with the russian special service.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under the Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).

At the SSU’s request, court chose custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect.

The SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region carried out the operation and investigative activities under the procedural supervision of Dnipropetrovsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
