SSU detains russian agent who ‘hunted’ for Ukrainian ammunition depots near Avdiivka
In the course of counter-sabotage efforts in the frontline areas of Donetsk region, the SSU exposed another FSB agent.
The traitor is a local resident who even before the full-scale invasion maintained friendly relations with a career officer of the russian special service.
After February 24, the enemy recruited the man remotely and instructed him to conduct reconnaissance and sabotage in the region.
The aggressor was primarily interested in information on locations of ammunition depots and bases with military equipment of the Defence Forces in Avdiivka sector.
The agent drove around the area and tried to covertly collect intelligence on Ukrainian facilities.
He was supposed to transmit the data to the FSB via an anonymous messenger in the form of electronic coordinates, as well as georeferenced media files with detailed descriptions.
Occupiers needed the intelligence to plan tactical operations against Ukrainian troops on the eastern front.
However, the SSU was proactive – the offender was timely exposed and detained when he was conducting reconnaissance.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the enemy agent a notice of suspicion of high treason (Article 111 of the CCU).
The court chose custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect. The investigation is underway.
The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
