SSU detains enemy informant who adjusted russian missile strikes on Sloviansk and Lyman

As a result of counter-sabotage efforts in the frontline areas of Donetsk oblast, the SSU apprehended another informant of russia’s intelligence services.

The spy was collecting information for the aggressor on locations of Ukraine’s Defence Forces in Sloviansk, Lyman and nearby villages.

While driving in the area, he tried to identify and record locations of checkpoints, fortifications and strongholds of Ukrainian troops.

The occupiers needed the intelligence to plan new and adjust repeated attacks using rocket artillery, attack drones and guided aerial bombs.

The SSU established the location of the enemy agent and detained him in his apartment. A mobile phone, used in reconnaissance and sabotage against Ukraine, was seized from the suspect.

According to the investigation, the aggressor’s accomplice is a local resident, whom the invaders recruited remotely through their ‘liaison’ in October this year.

The latter turned out to be a militant of the terrorist group ‘DNR’, who joined russia’s occupation troops at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. He kept in touch with the informant in the banned social network Odnoklassniki.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served the detained individual a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on movement, transfer or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody, facing up to 8 years in prison. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
