SSU detains enemy spotter during security measures in Sumy region
During counterintelligence and security measures in Sumy, the SSU apprehended an agent of russia’s federal security service. He is a 22-year-old native of Kherson oblast who was preparing russian strikes on the Defense Forces units near the Kursk operation area.
To carry out the enemy task, he walked around the area and covertly filmed locations of military installations on his mobile phone.
The agent sent the georeferenced video files to his handler, whom the SSU has identified.
The SSU uncovered the traitor at an early stage, documented his criminal actions and detained him, preventing the transmission of intelligence to the enemy.
At the same time, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defense Forces units.
According to the investigation, the young man was remotely recruited by the FSB in August this year when he was looking for quick money on Telegram.
Instead of money from the FSB, he received a suspicion notice from the SSU under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Sumy region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
