SSU detains russian mole who spied on Ukrainian combat aviation
As a result of a multi-stage special operation in Mykolaiv oblast, the SSU Military Counterintelligence detained another enemy informant.
The offender is a resident of the Crimea, who in 2014 supported russian invaders and stayed on the temporarily occupied peninsula.
There, he received a russian passport and voluntarily registered with the military of the aggressor state.
Later, one of russia’s special services approached him and offered covert cooperation.
On the enemy’s instructions, before the start of the full-scale invasion the agent arrived in Mykolaiv oblast, where his relatives live.
On the territory of the southern region, the man was supposed to collect intelligence on locations and movements of Ukrainian troops.
For this purpose, last year he enrolled in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Serving in a Ukrainian military unit, the aggressor’s informant spied on the movement of our combat aircraft and positions of the air defence systems.
He was also interested in data on the Defence Forces’ depots with ammunition, fuel and lubricants.
The SSU apprehended the suspect when he was conducting reconnaissance for the enemy.
According to the investigation, he transmitted intelligence to occupiers through his ex-wife, who lives in the Crimea and is in contact with russian special services.
An anonymous messenger app was used for communication.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.1 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on transfer, movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU or other Ukrainian lawful military formations).
The investigation is underway.
The SSU carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Mykolaiv Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region.
