SSU detains enemy agent who adjusted russian missile strikes on residential areas in Kharkiv

The SSU has apprehended another agent of russian intelligence who adjusted air strikes on civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv.

On 23 January this year, at around 22:00, the enemy launched S-300 and X-22 missiles at Kyivsky and Kholodnohirskyi districts of the city.

As a result, private houses, an educational institution and a postal enterprise were damaged. Because of the destruction, 16 civilians have been displaced, including two children. Nine residents were seriously wounded.

After the attack, the agent went to the sites that had been hit to collect information on the affected infrastructure and the injured.

The SSU caught the perpetrator in the act as she was conducting reconnaissance near the houses destroyed by the russian strike.

The SSU seized a mobile phone from the suspect, which she was using to covertly photograph and communicate with the invaders.

The investigation revealed that the detainee is a 34-year-old woman from Kharkiv whom the aggressor recruited remotely earlier this year.

Anonymous chats in a messenger app were used for communication. After the first communication sessions with her handlers, the asset received an ‘advance payment’ from them for further reconnaissance and sabotage activities against Ukraine.

The agent provided the invaders with coordinates of most densely populated areas of the city, as well as geolocations of buildings that she believed could be used by Ukraine’s Defence Forces.

She also collected intelligence on routes of movement of the AFU units towards the eastern front.

To gather the information, the traitor walked around the city and recorded the ‘targets’ on her phone camera.

To conceal her communication with the aggressor, the agent deleted the daily ‘reports’ she sent to russia.

SSU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Kharkiv Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
