SSU detains russian agent ‘hunting’ for Ukrainian armoured vehicles near Bakhmut

The SSU Counterintelligence has apprehended another FSB agent who was reconnoitering locations of the Defence Forces in Donetsk oblast.

The perpetrator tried to identify locations of Ukrainian military personnel and heavy weapons along the frontline near Bakhmut and pass them to the aggressor.

In particular, the agent focused on Ukrainian servicemen moving in armoured vehicles, including Bushmasters.

To collect intelligence, the woman travelled between the frontline settlements and covertly photographed her ‘targets’.

She transmitted the data via a messenger app to her handler, who has already been identified by the SSU. This ‘supervisor’ is a serving officer of the FSB and is based in the temporarily occupied part of eastern Ukraine.

The invaders planned to use her intelligence to prepare rocket and artillery strikes on the AFU units.

The SSU timely identified the traitor, thwarting the enemy’s plans to strike Ukrainian targets.

After the suspect’s actions were thoroughly documented, the woman was caught ‘red-handed’ trying to locate and photograph a possible base of Ukrainian defenders.

The SSU seized the detainee’s phone, which she used for reconnaissance and sabotage activities against Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the enemy agent is a resident of Kostiantynivka, recruited remotely by the russian special service in late 2022.

The aggressor noticed the woman because of her anti-Ukrainian activity in the chats of pro-kremlin Telegram channels.

To collect intelligence in different locations, the traitor used public transport, constantly changing routes to keep herself hidden.

The FSB paid the asset for the completed assignments, transferring money to her bank card.

SSU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Rivne, Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Rivne Region Prosecutor’s Office.
