SSU detains enemy agents who blew up track during military echelon movement in Rivne region

The Security Service of Ukraine has neutralized a sabotage group of russian intelligence that operated in Rivne region. The perpetrators detonated an improvised explosive device on the rail track during the movement of a freight train of the Defense Forces.

The SSU timely stopped the train at a safe distance and secured the location, which prevented the accident and human casualties.

After the railroad track was repaired, the train resumed its movement.

The SSU apprehended the enemy agents who were trying to flee the scene in hot pursuit.

They are two local residents aged 30 and 32, recruited by russia through Telegram channels where they looked for ‘quick money’.

Following the occupiers’ instructions, the saboteurs made an IED using plastic explosive, which they took from a previously prepared cache.

They planted the explosive under the rails and remotely activated it when a military echelon approached.

In this way, the adversary hoped to disrupt the railway logistics of defense supplies for Ukrainian troops at the front line.

During the search, the SSU seized elements of an IED and mobile phones with evidence of sabotage in russia’s interests.

SSU investigators served the detainees notices of suspicion under Article 113.2 of the CCU (sabotage, committed under martial law).

The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Rivne Region Prosecutor’s Office.
