SBU detains “DNR” spy near contact line

The SBU detained a member of an IAF of the “DNR” terrorist organization. The militant was trying to reconnoiter the area of the contact line. Allegedly, his task was to obtain information about the location and combat power of the Ukrainian Army.

The SBU found out that the detained militant was a native of the city of Horlivka. Since 2016, he was serving in one of the IAF of the “DNR” terrorist organization. In the positions of “senior reconnaissance scout” and “assistant grenade launcher”, he put up armed resistance to the ATO / JFO forces and shelled on the positions of Ukrainian military units.

During the personal search of the militant, the law enforcement officers found a so-called “DNR” military ID and the certificate of “Novorossia veterans public organization”. During a preliminary interrogation, the detainee admitted his affiliation with the terrorist groups.

The detainee received the suspicion notice of creation a terrorist group or terrorist organization. The court chose custody as a type of detention.

The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office. The operation was carried out jointly with the Ukrainian Armed Forces involved in the Joint Forces operation, Operational Command East and the SBU military counterintelligence.
