SSU detains 5 organizers of criminal schemes for draft evasion and ‘demobilization’ of active servicemen

The SSU has blocked new schemes of evading military service and illegal departure of men of conscription age from Ukraine.

As a result of operations in different regions of Ukraine, the SSU detained five organizers who offered illegal ‘services’ not only to potential conscripts, but also to active servicemen.

The offenders ‘guaranteed’ their ‘clients’ that for money they would ‘write them off’ the military register or transport them abroad outside the checkpoints.

The price of ‘services’ reached USD 6,000 per evader, depending on the urgency.

In Cherkasy:

A local lawyer and his accomplice were detained ‘red-handed’ for selling fake medical examination reports to active military personnel.

The fake documents concluded that the ‘clients’ were not fit for service, which was a formal basis for ‘discharging’ them.

Later, the ‘demobilized’ could use the counterfeits to travel abroad.

In Kyiv:

The law enforcement agencies have uncovered two residents who smuggled draft evaders to the EU through the unrecognized Transnistria.

Before the ‘trip’, the organizers provided their ‘clients’ with fictitious documents from a military medical commission on their inability to serve due to ‘chronic diseases’.

The evaders were then gathered at an agreed location and taken by car to the unrecognized Transnistria and from there – to the EU.

In Zaporizhzhia:

Two suspects were detained for defrauding potential conscripts of money. For a reward, they promised men to help ‘escape’ mobilization and claimed they had ‘connections’ in a military enlistment office.

After receiving money from evaders, the fraudsters would cut off contact and disappear.

Investigations are ongoing into all the uncovered facts. The offenders face various prison terms.

The operations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region, Cherkasy and Zaporizhzhia regions jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
