SSU detains another 6 organizers of sham referenda in southern and eastern Ukraine
The SSU has exposed another six collaborators involved in organizing illegal referenda in the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson and Luhansk oblasts.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, they voluntarily went over to ruscists and offered their assistance in holding fake plebiscites.
The SSU identified them, documented their criminal actions, and detained them.
As a result of stabilization measures in Kherson region, five residents of Beryslav and Kherson districts were identified; they worked at the so-called ‘polling stations’ during the occupation.
Accompanied by the russian military servicemen, they visited local homes and forced residents to ‘vote’ for illegal accession of the region to the aggressor state.
For this, the collaborators received ‘rewards’ in russian rubles.
As a result of a special operation in Luhansk oblast, the SSU detained a resident of the temporarily occupied Starobilsk district.
The woman was organizing the fake referendum as a ‘member of the territorial election commission’: she compiled ‘voter’ lists, handed out ‘ballots’ and prepared the ‘voting protocol’.
In April 2023, the collaborator left the temporary occupied area and arrived in Ukraine-controlled territory to apply for social benefits.
After that, the suspect planned to return back, but the SSU detained her.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the offenders notices of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 110.2 (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability);
- 111-1.5 (collaboration).
The court has already chosen custody as a measure of restraint for three of the suspects. The investigations are ongoing.
The SSU Offices in Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk regions exposed the offenders under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
