SSU detains another seven collaborators who worked for ruscists during Kherson occupation
The SSU has apprehended another seven individuals who collaborated with russian invaders during the occupation of the right bank of Kherson region.
After the city’s liberation, they tried to evade prosecution. One of them was going to flee abroad; the rest minimized their contacts and almost never left their homes.
The SSU and the National Police detained two residents of Kherson who were ‘chief accountants’ in the temporarily occupied city – one in the regional hospital and the other in the administration of gauleiter Saldo.
On his instructions, the collaborators transferred all the property of the seized state institutions to russia and helped to introduce ‘ruble’ zone.
Another detainee is a local businessman. After the occupation of the port city, he set up a currency exchange office with the permission of the russians, where he bought Hryvnia in exchange for russian rubles.
The occupiers hoped to completely withdraw the Ukrainian currency from circulation through such controlled ‘offices’.
The other three collaborators called on the local population to ‘vote for the region’s accession’ to russia.
Along with them, another ruscist agitator was detained. He spoke in support of the enemy occupation troops from stage in Bilozerka community.
The perpetrators have been notified of suspicion (in accordance with the crimes committed) under several Articles of the CCU:
- 28.2, 111-1.4, 111-1.5, 111-1.6 (collaboration, committed upon prior conspiracy, by a group);
- 111-2.1 (aiding and abetting the aggressor state);
- 436-2.1 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The suspects face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operations were carried out by the SSU Office in Kherson region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Offices.
