SSU detains another two collaborators from Kherson oblast: one wanted to ‘hide’ in National Guard

The SSU and the National Police have detained two collaborators who tried to evade justice after working for the enemy in Kherson region.

To ‘hide’ from the SSU, one of the suspects even joined the National Guard.

However, the SSU identified the traitors timely, established their location and detained them.

According to the investigation, the collaborators are two former employees of a furniture factory in Kherson.

During the occupation, they volunteered to work in a prison set up by the aggressor and were appointed ‘junior inspectors’ of the then-captured Northern Correctional Colony No 90.

In this ‘institution’, the ruscists held abducted locals, often members of the resistance movement.

The job of both collaborators was to guard the prison cells.

When Kherson was liberated, the guards left for a neighbouring village and tried to hide from justice.

Later, one of the suspects moved to his parents in Yuzhnoukrainsk, Mykolaiv oblast, and there enrolled to one of the units of the National Guard of Ukraine.

During the searches at the suspects’ homes, the SSU found ‘IDs’ of the russian occupation authorities and financial ‘slips’ showing salaries received in russian rubles.

Both detainees have been notified of suspicion of collaboration (Article 111-1.7 of the CCU). The court has chosen custody as a measure of restraint. The suspects are facing up to 15 years in prison.

The SSU Kherson Office conducted the operation jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
