SSU detains another 3 collaborators in de-occupied Kharkiv region, including fugitive deputy mayor of Vovchansk
The SSU detained two residents of Kupyansk, who worked as ‘policemen’ for the occupiers due to their ideological beliefs, and the deputy mayor of Vovchansk, who had been previously declared wanted for treason.
All three traitors were apprehended by the SSU in the course of stabilization measures in the de-occupied territories of Kharkiv region.
The investigation established that the 36-year-old and 31-year-old residents of Kupyansk joined the so-called ‘law enforcement agencies’ at their own initiative.
In early July, both of them were appointed to the positions of ‘executive policemen of the patrol service.’
Since then, the perpetrators had been actively assisting the enemy in supporting of the ‘new order’ in the occupied territory, including repressions against patriots.
Now, they have been notified of suspicion under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (collaboration).
Another traitor is a 67-year-old woman. At the position of ‘first deputy mayor’ of Vovchansk, she voluntarily provided assistance to russians during the temporary occupation of the city.
In particular, she compiled and handed over to the russian occupation forces the lists of veterans of the Anti-Terrorist Operation/Joint Forces Operation, patriots and activists of pro-Ukrainian organizations.
Using the powers granted to her, the perpetrator provided russian military personnel with construction materials for fortifications.
The woman also urged local residents to support the occupation regime and personally participated in the removal of Ukrainian flags from administrative buildings in Vovchansk.
In July, SSU investigators notified her of suspicion, in absentia, of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU), and declared her wanted.
The crime is punishable by 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The collaborator has been detained; the court ruled to keep her in custody.
The SSU warns: anyone who defected to the enemy will be held to account in line with the law.
The SSU Office in Kharkiv region exposed and detained the suspects under the procedural supervision of Kharkiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
