SSU detains Ukrzaliznytsia employee who transported draft evaders abroad in passenger carriage ventilation system (video)
The SSU Counterintelligence has exposed another scheme of illegal departure of men of military age abroad.
The SSU detained a conductor of Zaporizhzhia-Przemyśl train, who set up a channel for draft evaders’ escape to the EU states.
To smuggle clients out of Ukraine, the official equipped a special cache in the ventilation system of the conductor’s compartment.
In this closed technological cavity, draft evaders were to hide during passport control on the border.
During one flight, the cache could fit and transport one person in a ‘curled’ state.
The cost of such a ‘service’ was up to USD 2,500. The amount depended on urgency of the escape and the train schedule.
However, the SSU Counterintelligence uncovered the illegal traffic and detained the railway official at Mostyska-2 checkpoint on an attempt to illegally transport abroad a person liable for military service.
The detained official has been served a notice of suspicion under Article 332.3 of the CCU (unlawful transportation of persons across the state border). The investigation is ongoing.
The SSU Office in Khmelnytskyi region exposed the offender jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
