SSU detains FSB agent who adjusted russian missile strikes on Kharkiv region (video)

In the course of a special operation in Kharkiv, the SSU Counterintelligence detained an FSB agent, who had been recruited by the enemy several years ago and was conducting reconnaissance of Ukrainian positions on eastern front.

The informant passed geolocation data of the city infrastructure to the occupiers. Due to his ‘information’, the aggressors launched missiles at the building of the regional state administration and seven other civilian targets.

To transmit coordinates, he used secure communication channels.

The agent sent the intelligence as text files with detailed descriptions of the facilities, including presence of civilians in them.

According to the investigation, the traitor is a former law enforcement officer, recruited by the FSB when he crossed the russian border in 2019.

After receiving an operational nickname and a briefing on secrecy, the agent was put on standby.

After russia started its full-scale invasion, the agent’s handler contacted him and tasked to carry out reconnaissance and subversive activity in eastern Ukraine.

If the assignments are completed successfully, the occupiers promised to exfiltrate their accomplice to russia and grant him citizenship.

However, the SSU thwarted these ‘plans’ and detained the perpetrator. During the search of his home, investigators seized anti-personnel mines, firearms with ammunition and radio stations as well as communication devices with evidence of unlawful activity.

The detainee has been notified of suspicion; the court has decided to keep him in custody.

The agent is facing life imprisonment.

The SSU Counterintelligence Department carried out the operation together with the National Police and under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
