In Dnipro, the SSU Counterintelligence has apprehended two agents of russia’s federal security service. They are a 40-year-old local resident and his wife who passed to the enemy the locations of Ukrainian air defence systems and committed arson attacks on Ukrainian railways.
The perpetrators acted together with a clear division of responsibilities. For example, the woman was collecting intelligence on locations Ukrainian Air Defence units that protect the city from russian missile and drone attacks.
She tried to identify combat positions of Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile systems and radar stations.
During her reconnaissance sorties, the traitor took photos and videos of military facilities and marked their coordinates on electronic maps.
She passed the data to her husband, who then sent it to the FSB via a messenger app.
The man also carried out arson attacks. The investigation documented that he had burned down a relay cabinet on one of the main railway lines in the region. The agent filmed the fire on his phone camera for a report to his russian handler.
He was to continue a series of arson attacks on important Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian railways) facilities. In this way, the occupiers hoped to disrupt transport logistics of the Defence Forces on eastern and southern frontlines.
The Counterintelligence documented the criminal actions of the couple and detained them. Action was taken to protect the positions of Ukrainian troops.
The husband and wife began to cooperate with the russian special service in June this year. At first, the FSB remotely recruited the man who was looking for quick money on Telegram. Later, he involved his 36-year-old wife.
To carry out the test task, the agents posted provocative leaflets around the city offering easy money from ruscists.
During the search, the SSU seized arson tools, propaganda leaflets and mobile phones with evidence of communication with the FSB.
SSU investigators served the man a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law). His wife’s actions are qualified under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on movement, transfer or location of the AFU, committed under martial law).
