Kharkiv: SSU detains railwayman who passed intelligence to enemy on routes of trains with AFU’s equipment
In Kharkiv, the SSU Counterintelligence detained another enemy informant who was collecting data for russian intelligence services on Ukrainian Defence Forces in the region.
The spy is an employee of a local railway station. The man was tracking routes of rolling stock with military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The ruscists’ agent tried to identify the approximate number of heavy weapons transported to the frontline in echelons.
The enemy asset also photographed consequences of russian air strikes on Kharkiv infrastructure.
The collected intelligence was transmitted as media files to a closed pro-russian Telegram group.
During the search, the SSU seized a mobile phone with evidence of the suspect’s reconnaissance and sabotage activities against Ukraine.
SSU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on shipment, transfer of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU).
Court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint for suspect, who is facing up to 8 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
The SSU Office in Kharkiv region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the oblast’s Prosecutor’s Office.
