SSU detains collaborator in Kherson, who ‘beat out votes’ for region’s accession to russia
The SSU continues to expose enemy accomplices in the liberated territories of Ukraine.
In the course of stabilization efforts in Kherson, the SSU detained a representative of the ‘election commission’, created by the invaders after capturing the regional center.
This pseudo-entity executed the kremlin’s task to organize and conduct a sham referendum on the supposed accession of the temporarily occupied oblast to russia.
The detained collaborator collected ‘votes’ during the fake plebiscite. For this purpose, he visited apartments of high-rise buildings in the city and called people to ‘vote’ for the kremlin’s project.
If the residents disagreed, the man threatened with physical violence and called for ‘help’ from armed occupiers who were ‘on guard’ at the entrance to the building.
The collaborator passed the ‘ballot papers’ filled out at gunpoint to the local occupation administration for further falsification of the ‘referendum’ results.
According to the investigation, the detainee is a local resident who after the start of the full-scale invasion supported the invaders and cooperated with them.
For this, the individual was appointed to a ‘position’ and was paid by the aggressor state.
The SSU notified the enemy accomplice of suspicion under Articles 28.2 and 111-1.5 of the CCU (collaborationism, participation in organization and holding of unlawful elections and/or referenda in the temporarily occupied territory, committed by a group of persons).
Court has chosen custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect.
The crime is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
The SSU Office in Kherson Region exposed the offence under the procedural guidance of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
