SSU detains collaborator who forcibly ‘issued passports’ to benefit recipients during Kherson’s occupation

As a result of stabilization measures in the liberated Kherson, the SSU detained another collaborator.

During the occupation, the woman supported the russian invaders and became one of the chiefs of the so-called ‘russia’s labour and social protection department’.

In this ‘position’, she carried out the kremlin’s orders to forcibly ‘integrate’ the region’s legal framework with the russian ‘standards’. Among other things, she organized the payment of social benefits exclusively in russian rubles.

The collaborator forced local population to apply for citizenship of the aggressor state and threatened them with withdrawal of social benefits if they refused.

The most affected by her criminal actions were lonely elderly people, people with disabilities and other benefit recipients.

After Kherson’s liberation, the perpetrator stayed in the city, went into hiding and changed her place of residence.

However, the SSU found and detained her.

The investigation revealed that the woman had worked at one of the city’s labour and social protection departments before siding with the enemy.

In July 2022, the invaders offered her to join the local occupation administration, to which she immediately agreed.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111-1.5 of the CCU (collaboration).

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kherson region under the procedural supervision of Kherson Region Prosecutor’s Office.
