Kherson: SSU detains russian agent who adjusted strikes on AFU positions

In the course of stabilization measures in liberated Kherson, the SSU exposed another enemy accomplice.

The agent collected intelligence on location and movement of the Defence Forces in the region.

Occupiers used the obtained information to carry out targeted rocket and artillery strikes on Ukrainian positions.

During Kherson’s occupation, this individual also provided the aggressor with addresses of members of the resistance movement, including ATO veterans.

This data was used by ruscists for mass illegal detentions and abductions of people to torture chambers.

In the ‘jails’, victims were forced to ‘confess’ in fabricated cases. In case they disagreed, torturers used psychological pressure, violence and death threats.

According to the investigation, the invaders’ accomplice is a local resident, who in early April this year began to carry out assignments of russian special services.

To collect information, the agent drove around the region and used his connections, who unwittingly provided him with intelligence.

The traitor passed the intelligence to his russian handler through an anonymous Telegram channel.

During the search at the suspect’s home, the SSU found propaganda material, symbols of the aggressor state and a mobile phone with evidence of covert communication with the enemy.

SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under the Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).

Court chose custody as a measure of restraint.

The crime is punishable by up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.

The SSU Office in Kherson region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Kherson Region Prosecutor’s Office.
