SSU detains collaborator who tried to hide from justice by joining Ukrainian Red Cross Society

In Kyiv, the SSU detained an enemy accomplice wanted for voluntary collaboration with russian invaders in the temporarily occupied part of eastern Ukraine.

The offender is a former chief of sector in the ‘LNR pension fund in Novopskov district’ established by the enemy.

Last year, the SSU identified the collaborator, documented his criminal activity and declared him wanted.

As a result of operational activities, the SSU established that the suspect had secretly arrived in Kyiv and tried to ‘legalize’ himself as a volunteer of the local office of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society.

When joining the humanitarian organization, the individual posed as an IDP from Luhansk region and concealed facts of his cooperation with the aggressor.

The man planned to flee from justice abroad under the guise of a member of the international volunteer movement.

However, the SSU exposed and detained the enemy accomplice in Kyiv.

According to the investigation, the suspect is a native of Luhansk oblast, who supported russian occupiers when the invasion began and offered them his assistance in the war against Ukraine.

For this, he was appointed to a position in the occupation administration.

The collaborator followed the aggressor’s instructions and spread the kremlin’s regime, for example, took part in enforcing the ruble zone in Luhansk region through pension payments.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion of collaboration (Article 111-1.5 of the CCU).

The court chose custody as a measure of restraint.

The suspect is facing up to 10 years in prison.

The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions exposed the offender jointly with the National Police under the coordination of the SSU National Statehood Protection Department and the procedural guidance of Luhansk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
