SSU apprehends resident agent of GRU cell in Kyiv thanks to double agent (video)

The SSU has thwarted attempts of the russian military intelligence to set up a network in Kyiv.

As a result of the operation, the SSU detained a resident (senior agent) of the enemy group, who coordinated the executors of russian ‘orders’ in Ukraine.

Their main task was to set fire to service vehicles of Ukrainian Defense Forces.

According to the aggressor’s scenario, the destruction of military vehicles was supposed to undermine the socio-political situation in Ukraine.

To detain the head of the group working for the GRU [the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces], the SSU involved a double agent.

The latter is a Kyiv resident whom the SSU caught when he was preparing an arson attack. The man agreed to cooperate with the Service and helped document the sabotage.

According to the investigation, the resident agent was in direct contact with a GRU officer.

She coordinated the arsonists and helped them conduct sabotage in Kyiv. The SSU documented the woman giving direct instructions on how to make improvised incendiary devices, which the attackers were to use to burn military vehicles.

The head of the group personally tried to film one of the arson attacks that was to be carried out by the double agent. It was then that she was apprehended by the SSU.

At the scene, the Service seized an improvised incendiary device and a mobile phone with evidence of the crime.

According to the investigation, the woman came to the GRU’s attention at the beginning of the full-scale war. At that time, she lived in Tokmak, Zaporizhzhia region, and moved to Kyiv after this area was occupied.

While living in the capital, she was contacted remotely by a russian military intelligence officer and was offered cooperation in exchange for money, which she never received.

The SSU has notified her of suspicion of high treason, committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Efforts to identify and bring to justice her accomplices are underway.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
