SSU detains military turncoat preparing new russian strikes on Kyiv heat and power plants (video)
In Kyiv, the SSU detained an agent of russia’s FSB who was preparing new enemy air attacks on critical infrastructure in the capital.
The traitor is a contract soldier of one of the National Guard military units, recruited by the russian intelligence remotely in January this year.
To engage the military serviceman in covert cooperation, the FSB used its resident (head of an agent network). The latter is a former member of the National Guard who had resigned from service for health reasons and moved to a European country. There he started working for the FSB.
While outside Ukraine, the resident gave instructions to his asset in Kyiv, including the task to collect geolocations of thermal power plants in Kyiv.
The enemy was also asking about the technical condition of energy facilities and level of their protection.
The Kyiv informant sent the data he gathered to his ‘supervisor’ abroad via a messenger app in the form of photos with text descriptions.
For each completed assignment, the head of the group and the asset received between USD 100 and USD 1,000 from their FSB handler. The amount depended on the complexity of the task and significance of the information obtained.
The occupiers needed the intelligence to prepare new air strikes on Kyiv during the cold season.
As a result of a multi-stage special operation, the SSU detained the enemy agent when he was conducting reconnaissance.
Searches at his home in Kyiv revealed computer equipment and a mobile phone with evidence of reconnaissance and sabotage activities against Ukraine.
SSU investigators have notified both offenders of suspicion under Article 28.2 and 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law by a group of persons).
The suspect, the detained FSB asset, is in custody, facing life imprisonment.
The SSU is acting to bring to justice the ‘head of the intelligence network’ hiding abroad.
The SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
