SSU detains FSB agents in Lviv who set fire to Ukrainian servicemen’s cars

The SSU and the National Police prevented russia’s new attempts to undermine socio-political situation in western Ukraine. In Lviv, the SSU detained young men who were preparing a series of arson attacks on vehicles belonging to Ukrainian defenders on the orders from the aggressor.

The suspects are two local residents, aged 17 and 18, who were looking for easy money on russian Telegram channels.

In one of the channels, an FSB representative promised them a quick income in exchange for ‘cooperation’.

On his instructions, the man searched for the ‘right’ cars and then covertly photographed them.

After receiving the photos, the russian service gave ‘permission’ to destroy the vehicles.

Following this ‘procedure’, the perpetrator set fire to a car of a serviceman from a Ukrainian combat brigade.

For the arson, he used a bottle of kerosene and an incendiary substance, which he poured over the vehicle.

This was a ‘test’ assignment from the FSB, after which the handler gave a new order – to engage more people to carry out a series of arsons of AFU vehicles throughout the city.

Later, a 17-year-old accomplice became involved in the arsons, and the perpetrators were to film the fires to report to their handler.

The enemy planned to use the videos to create a picture in the media showing supposedly ‘existence of an anti-Ukrainian underground’ in Lviv. The aggressor planned to involve maximum number of controlled media outlets.

The SSU Counterintelligence and the National Police detained both agents during the attack on the AFU vehicle.

The investigators seized mobile phones used for communication with the FSB and incendiary mixtures.

Both detainees have been notified of suspicion under Article 114-1.1 of the CCU (obstruction of lawful activities of the AFU and other military formations).

The suspects are in custody and face up to 8 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Lviv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
