SSU detains leader of Poltava fake ‘people’s power’ calling for seizure of Ukrainian government institutions
The SSU prevented attempts to undermine the socio-political situation in Ukraine’s central regions.
As a result of an operation in Poltava, the SSU detained a man who plotted creation of a sham state formation in the city.
The individual positioned himself as a leader of the so-called ‘people’s power’ and was creating a fake ‘self-government’ in Poltava.
He called his illegal institution the ‘territorial community council’ and even ordered a seal for the pseudo-entity.
On his Facebook page, the ‘activist’ called on citizens to join his ‘association’ and create new ‘communities’ in order to seize state power in Ukraine by force.
The ‘leader’ promised his followers ‘positions’ in the fake institution.
In the self-recorded video comments, he repeated kremlin’s narratives, referring to russia’s armed aggression as a ‘civil war in Ukraine’.
The bogus ‘statesman’ also publicly denied Ukraine’s current constitutional order.
The SSU-initiated forensic linguistic examination confirmed the facts of his criminal activities.
The detained offender was served a notice of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 109.2 (actions aimed at forceful change or overthrow of constitutional order or seizure of state power);
- 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The court chose custody without bail as a measure of restraint for the suspect.
The investigation is underway.
The SSU Office in Poltava region carried out the operational and investigative activities under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
