SSU detains militant who was hiding from justice

The SSU Counterintelligence continues to act comprehensively to expose and prosecute participants of Russia’s hybrid aggression against Ukraine. In an operation in Donetsk region, the Service located and detained a member of Pyatnashka terrorist group.

The militant took an active part in hostilities against the ATO forces.

According to the investigation, the detainee, a resident of Myrnohrad, Donetsk region, voluntarily joined the illegal armed formations on the temporarily occupied territories in 2014. There, she was provided with automatic weapons and ammunition.

After a ‘course of training’, the militants involved her in combat missions against the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Later, the militant left the group and was hiding from justice for a long time.

The SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion of crime under Article 258-3.1 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization) of the CCU. The court is to choose the measure of restraint.

The investigation is underway to identify and prosecute all those involved in crimes against Ukraine’s state security.

The SSU Offices in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation under the supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
