SSU detains blogger in Odesa who was right-hand man of Stremousov (video)

In Odesa, SSU cyber specialists and investigators detained a propagandist who justified russia’s armed aggression and called for the seizure of state power in Ukraine.

The detainee is a pro-russian blogger from Mykolaiv region who was working for the collaborator Stremousov for a long time and was his "right-hand man."

Before russian full-scale invasion, they jointly organized paid protests aimed at destabilizing the internal political situation in the region in favor of the aggressor country.

During the occupation of territories in Mykolaiv region and Kherson city, Stremousov was a member of the local occupation administration. However, his accomplice remained in the territory controlled by Ukraine.

To spread propaganda, he used his own pages and channels on Youtube, Facebook and Instagram, as well as on the banned social network Vkontakte with audience of over 100 thousand followers.

On these Internet resources, he denied the existence of Ukrainian statehood and the Ukrainian nation.

He also discredited Ukrainian defenders and called on citizens to evade conscription into the Defense Forces.

Subsequently, his stories and posts were used by the main kremlin propagandists as the "opinion" of ordinary Ukrainian citizens.

For conspiracy, the offender constantly changed phone numbers and used the nickname "man."

During the searches at his residences in Odesa and Yuzhnoukrainsk, Mykolaiv region, a laptop and 5 mobile phones with evidence of subversive activity were found. Also, the "job description" of Stremousov's news agency, where he previously worked, was seized.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  •  Art. 109 (actions aimed at the violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or the seizure of state power);
  •  Art. 436-1 (production, distribution of communist and Nazi symbols and propaganda of communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes);
  •  Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition of the legitimacy, denial of the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

Custody was chosen as a type of detention.

The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The offender faces up to 10 years in prison.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
