SSU detains enemy informant who ‘hunted’ for Ukrainian air defence systems near Bakhmut
As a result of counter-sabotage efforts in the frontline areas of Donetsk oblast, the SSU exposed another enemy accomplice.
The agent, a woman, was collecting intelligence for the occupiers on locations and movements of the Defence Forces near Bakhmut.
Primarily, she tried to identify coordinates of firing positions, fortifications and air defence systems of Ukrainian troops.
The SSU detained the suspect when she was conducting reconnaissance. The investigators seized her mobile phone used for transmitting classified data to russians.
According to the investigation, the enemy informant is a resident of Oleksiivo-Druzhkivka and an active user of the banned social network Odnoklassniki, where she posted anti-Ukrainian messages.
There, the woman was contacted by a ‘liaison officer’ of russian intelligence, who in January 2023 offered her to carry out reconnaissance and sabotage against Ukraine.
To gather information, the agent walked to target areas and covertly surveilled Ukrainian troops.
The traitor also used her neighbours and acquaintances: she asked about movement of the AFU’s military equipment and they unwittingly helped her.
The enemy accomplice sent the intelligence to occupiers via a messenger app as texts with geolocations of Ukrainian targets.
The SSU has served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (collaboration).
The suspect is in custody. She is facing up to 15 years in prison.
The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions exposed the offender under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
